About Candidate Attorney Programme 2024

NRFSA offers law graduates who want to be admitted as attorneys an opportunity to receive practical legal training for a period of 2 years. During this time, the candidate attorney is required to enter into a contract with an admitted attorney who has been in legal practice in excess of 6 years as his or her principal. During this term of articles, the principal acts as a mentor and facilitates the transfer of skills to the candidate attorney to cultivate the knowledge needed to run a practice at a law firm.

Our comprehensive programme offers development opportunities that include attending the School of Legal Practice which is part of the Law Society of South Africa, where law graduates are taught by law practitioners about the practical aspects of being an attorney or advocate. In addition there is on-the-job coaching with regular performance feedback opportunities, as well as practice area training, and specific soft skills modules, all of which are aimed at ensuring that our candidate attorneys are trained to become successful lawyers.
